Influential Characters Meme [Dec. 21st, 2010|01:34 pm]

Copied from Facebook (though I've seen it around LJ too).

Approximately ten fictional characters (television, films, plays, books) who've influenced me and will always stick with me.

Nausicaa from Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind
Every heroine from Tamora Pierce's Tortall books, especially Daine
Delenn from Babylon 5
Oscar François de Jarjayes from The Rose of Versailles
Kaoru Orihara from Onii-sama e (aka Brother, Dear Brother)
MacKenzie Allen from Commander in Chief
Captain Janeway and Captain Picard from Star Trek
Lois and Clark from Lois and Clark: The Adventures of Superman
Pike Dexter from Big Eden
Nikki Wade from Bad Girls (the British TV series)

I'm sure I'm forgetting others.

I'm not tagging anyone--do it if you feel like it.

Neat choices. I'm familiar with the first 3 entries but not the others (I have heard of Dune but haven't read or watched it yet).

Don't watch Dune. Neither of the currently extant adaptations (Sci-Fi Channel or David Lynch) do a good job of translating the book - they get the surface trappings, and Lynch did a good job of the aesthetics, but they don't reach to why the book is so widely loved.

I'm a bit quick to respond on that score, since Dune is one of my Very Favorite books. I don't think I've ever gotten tired of rereading it, and I pick up something new each time I read it.

I never do meme, but this is too interesting to pass up. Thanks.

Interesting choices; I think it's a sign of Ikeda-sensei's talent that two of her characters are on your list. The women sure knew how to craft a personality. I still haven't read Onii-sama e though, and must!
